Dunham Farms in Sunbury
For 250 years, Dunham Farms has welcomed guests into its country quarters. Unplug from the bustling tech world, and check into one of the farm’s cottages for the weekend. Dunham Farms offers kayaking, delicious dining options (including a high tea service!), and informative and interactive tours throughout the year. Wander off the farm and explore nearby historic sites such as the famous Dorchester Academy and Museum and Fort Morris State Historic Site. A half-hour down the street is the historic district of Savannah, famous for its history and exciting night life.
Serenbe in Chattahoochee Hills
Serenbe is a bustling progressive community on 900 acres of preserved forest just outside of Atlanta. After hiking the wildflower fields and waterfall trails, you may want to relax with a spa service. You can cozy up in one of the Inn at Serenbe's hot tubs before retiring to one of the luxurious country lofts for the evening.
White Oak Pastures in Bluffton
White Oak Pastures is another great trip within the state. The Harris family has tended cattle on the southwest Georgia farm for five generations. White Oak prides itself on their treatment of animals, land and employees. After learning about the cattle and the farm-to-table process, you can spend the night in one of their wooden cabins and join the employees for a hearty meal. Just a short drive away, Providence Canyon and Kolomoki Mounds State Park are exciting day trips filled with hiking and exploration.
Dublin Farm
Set on 30 acres of countryside outside of town, Dublin Farm features cozy rooms inside the bed and breakfast, an outdoor pool, lounge area and a restaurant. Each guest suite features luxurious bedding, flat-screen televisions and private baths. The farm is also equipped with free WiFi. One of the biggest treats at Dublin Farm is dining on a multi-course Italian feast at Ristorante da Maria, where all the food is cooked by Italian-born chef Maria Runggaldier. “I’m really proud to present people with my authentic Italian cooking,” she explains. “It’s so fresh and made from scratch.” While her dishes hail from her home country, many of the ingredients used to create them — including beef, peaches, blueberries, and heritage poultry — are grown in Georgia. And guests can pair their pasta (all hand made by Runggaldier) with Italian wines to round out the experience — all part of living la dolce vita. “I cook and people are happy,” says Runggaldier, who also shares her secrets in cooking classes throughout the year.
Southern Cross Guest Ranch in Madison
You don't have to head out West to experience life on a genuine dude ranch; simply head to Southern Cross Guest Ranch in Madison. In addition to staying the night at Southern Cross (some rooms have Jacuzzis and fireplaces!), you also experience caring for and riding their horses. Guests are involved in the entire process of horseback riding, including brushing the horse and managing the tack.
